Necessary Evolution — Believing in Self
Dreams of Possibilities…
Before we deep dive into this week’s blog, I thought it was of vital importance for me to ask you the following questions:
Do you believe in dreams?
Do you currently have dreams and goals?
Do you believe that dreams do come true?
Do you believe in yourself?
Do you believe you deserve great things?
Why do you think the majority of people never realize their dreams or goals?
What do you really want in life, where you be and what would you be doing if you had absolutely no worries of any kind?
Now, take a few minutes and check out the following statements below. Reflect on what they mean to you:
We are not who we think we are. We are who we think we are not.
Whenever there is a desire to change what we do, how we feel and who we want to become, we first must release the old self-image and replace it with a new one in our subconscious mind.
Earl Nightingale on “Attitude” — “Now, right here we come to a rather strange fact. We tend to minimize the things we can do, the goals we can reach, and yet, for some equally strange reason, we think others can do things that we cannot.”
I’ve come to realize that in order for our dreams to come true, we first have to be ok with having dreams, to have courage to dream, and to believe that we deserve to dream; but most importantly, we need to believe in the one who dreams — ourselves. After so many years of immersing in personal growth, one would think that I would immediately recognize that my dream was realized and that the universe patiently answered and presented me with what was the culmination of all that I had imagined and visualized for more than 18 months, that so-called “ideal goal worthy of me,” in every active meditation sitting and in every gratitude entry.
But, it arrived in unexpected form in “common hours” and consequently, met me unawares. In fact, if memory serves, the universe had answered my request some 6 months back; yet, I didn’t recognize it. The image I had given myself long ago was firmly attached still. As soon as I released my self-inflicted limitation, clarity emerged.
In brief, it required that I took that leap out of my comfort zone once more and this time, transition from the healthcare domain into the financial business industry, where I now had the opportunity to not only immerse into financial entrepreneurship but also bring to the table my passion for personal development-mindset coaching to new members who were also interested in transitioning into a new business but lacked the courage (self-image) to do so. Just as the law of gestation (Raymond Holliwell) states, the universe always answers the call when the time is right.
For some time now, I have read about the innate hunger of all humans to expand and further express themselves and that this yearning for personal growth is directly connected to our soul’s desire to learn and evolve. I’ve also been curious if it is indeed our spiritual duty to evolve, if it were truly mandatory that we were all born into this earth school with a forgotten memory that we were supposed to grow our souls or spirits, that our role was a becoming, to transform into something better with time.
Authors have written about how the world is constantly changing around us and that if we do not take continuous new steps forward, we inevitably find ourselves regressing instead — we don’t even get to be at a standstill; we are literally going backwards. So, they say that there is really no such thing as choosing to keep things the same because we are comfortable. As harsh as it may seem, basically, the laws of nature are clear that if we are not moving forward, we are going backwards.
We learn to understand that stretching into unknown territory, like taking on something new, is a necessary leap to improving ourselves. But, what if we want to stay in the comfort zone? What if we “choose” to stay in the comfort zone? After all, don’t we have that choice to do so?
But, what if the decision was made by the egoic mind? What if the decision was influenced by the old paradigms placed at birth in our subconscious mind? Would the decision still be authentically valid? Who would determine this? Is it appropriate to judge?
The mind is bathed in complexity and achieving clarity is no simple task. Many spiritual authors and mentors now maintain that actions we have always traditionally embraced, such as achieving, attaining, and goal setting, were no longer held on pedestals, and if they possessed any merit, it would be that setting goals was equated with programming our GPS to determine direction, but that the focus was the journey itself and never the end-goal or destination.
What I have discovered is that if we are all spirit or energy having a physical experience in this human form, then each of us is meant to experience a life that is uniquely ours, and that whatever level of consciousness any of us is at is where we ought to be. In other words, there is no right or wrong way to be.
There is also no accurate way to evaluate whether or not one individual has ascended higher than the other, other than to use established parameters, such as a person who is supposedly higher in consciousness understands that all things are energy (including money); that things are neither good nor bad (things just are); that nothing anyone does or says can trigger our unhealed wounds anymore; that peace, love and joy are states of being that already exist inside of us accessible 24/7; that we are guided by our higher self, disguised as our intuition or gut feeling; and that our lives appear to flow seemingly magically in the eyes of others. This belief follows the way of “being.”
And then, there is a plethora of research and writings dating decades back by authors and instructors with an emphasis on “doing,” such as cultivating energy frequencies involved in mindset and self-image altering techniques (harnessing the energy released from shifting the mind’s attention from the past and future into the present — Joe Dispenza), and the invisible power of imagination and visualization (Neville Goddard, Joseph Murphy, Genevieve Behrend) in facilitating the manifestation of images formed in the mind into the physical reality detected by our primitive 5 senses. This involves investing our thoughts in seeing and feeling that our future goals have already been realized to propel them into reality in the present time.
Perhaps it has always been about the balance between the “doing” and the “being.” But, to the majority of the population, how do we explain the difference between “doing” and “being,” according to Eckhart Tolle, Kyle Cease, Michael Beckwith, Jeffrey Allen, Light Watkins, and many others from the vast library of noteworthy experts? Simply put, “doing” involves constant strategizing, taking blind actions, incessant attempts to problem solve despite going nowhere because the “doing” is done just for the sake of keeping ourselves distracted and looking busy to onlookers.
“Being,” on the other hand, refers to just allowing things and events to exist and do their thing without our reacting to them. Our role is to simply observe and withhold extreme emotions about them. It is an understanding that things happen through us not to us, that life is to be experienced as a series of lessons and that nothing is bad or good. Things just are the way they are. Everything in nature is presented in a balanced state with equals and opposites. We can’t have hot without cold, up without down, forward without backward, or left without right.
One of the most commonly asked questions I get is if there is a way to know when we are supposed to “do” and when we are supposed to “be.” And, this is a great learning question. Firstly, the fact that this is a question poses as part of the “how” in strategizing renders it in the category of “doing” and not “being.” Secondly, none of us is ever obligated to perform tasks associated with “should” or “supposed” to. This removes us from alignment and resonance with our spiritual energy. When we do, we reduce ourselves to playing servant to others and ultimately deprive ourselves of the opportunity of self-discovery, and the privilege of thriving as authentically as possible in our earth life.
As for me, in the last several months, I found myself inconveniently immersed in the murky waters of personal reinvention — and caught completely by surprise. I didn’t understand what was happening. The unfolding of my old identity and shedding of my old stories seemed too gradual to be of real significance until I did a double take. The human struggle is real I’m afraid, but fortunately, not entirely unpleasant.
I’ve become curious as to where my life journey is taking me these days, or months, I should say. I had thought I knew my purpose long ago, but now I began to wonder if there was a shift in my life’s purpose and what direction it was taking me or more accurately, what direction I was taking it. So much has changed — yet again. My first big change, of course, was the move from the West Coast to the Eastern seaboard after being a West Coaster for all of my entire life.
My second and now most current ginormous leap has catapulted me from serving others in a health capacity to an entrepreneur in the financial industry, with a twist of conscious awareness, as the success of this particular company has curiously been deeply rooted in personal growth and self-development as the foundation for individuals building successful businesses to serve an extensive population. This opportunity has provided a unique niche for me to immerse myself in the best of both worlds, something totally serendipitous and unanticipated.
So, I asked the universe again if all this could be the clarity of “living on purpose” I was seeking all along, the result of all my years of gratitude journaling and meditation, and all the diligent application of studying Working With the Law? Maybe it was all the visualization and imagination work I had been doing. Perhaps it was everything working synergistically.
Then, a Bob Proctor YouTube video popped up seemingly randomly for me. (But, we know from the laws of vibration and attraction, we attract who we are, not what we want, so there are no coincidences.)
The following is the summary of the video by Bob Proctor (author and speaker on personal growth and wealth) on finding our purpose:
“Our purpose is what we love to do. How do you select your purpose? You find out what you love to do and then you dedicate your life to it. Your purpose is spending your days doing what you love to do. That way you get satisfaction from how you spend your days. You should get a lot of satisfaction from how you spend your days. There are other ways to earn money. You can set up multiple sources of income. You don’t earn money from working. Working is the worst way to earn money. Napoleon Hill (author of Think and Grow Rich) stated that if you’re one of those people who believe that hard work and honesty will bring riches, perish the thought. Riches when they come in huge quantities are never the result from hard work. Riches come as a response to definite demands based on the application of definite principles and not by chance or luck. It’s a matter of providing service. The more service you provide, the greater the compensation. This is based on laws governing compensation and growth.”
They never taught us that in school.
Funny thing, life is. I now find myself ending up in a field that never interested me. It isn’t meant to be personal or a negative. Well, my parents were definitely never interested in the financial field themselves and so conveyed that disinterest to us as children. It got me wondering if my lack of interest was mine to own or if it was yet another paradigm reinforced into my mind at an early age. My decision, their influence, a bit of both; it is no longer clear.
This tremendous turn of events in my life — was it luck? Again, there is no such thing as luck. We make our own luck if anything. I believe in synchronicities. I reached this conclusion after long hours and many years of studying personal development. It must have been the journaling, or maybe the mirroring or maybe it was the meditation, or the gratitude card I always carried, or perhaps the visualization and imagination work I had been doing all this time.
All I can say is despite my years of studying personal growth and conscious awareness, nothing prepares you for the eventual outcome of any present moment. The human journey is paved with an abundance of options, and we have to make choices that align with us. It is about being flexible with our perception, avoiding the space of lack and limitation and self-doubt. It’s about knowing our incredible creative potential and ability to live a life of freedom and abundance and not feel guilty about it. We can choose to spend our time “doing” or “being.” We can selectively extract wisdom from any mentor that resonates with us and disregard that which does not.
It has long been said that we only get one shot at this earth life, and it is a relatively short one at that. Our responsibility is to experience everything to its fullest potential. Understanding and applying the laws of nature are the basic foundation to navigating this earth school. They taught me that a life well-lived was to always be grateful but never satisfied because my purpose was to allow for expansion and further expression that involved dedicated service to others. Once our conscious awareness ascends a certain level, we begin to comprehend that there is no separation. And so, if we circle back to the widely accepted concept of Oneness, by serving others, we are really serving ourselves.
For now, I am going to keep journaling, meditating, gratituding, and following my intuitive guidance. One of the most important lessons I learned in the last few months is that if I am ever presented with a new idea, I will not accept it; I will not reject it; and I certainly will not neglect it, no matter how far-fetched it sounds. I will entertain and mull around with it for a time. It is necessary that we remember we are worth believing in, and that our self-belief allows us to create, learn, and evolve. Living on purpose when it flows through us permits the release of all the old stories that are no longer true about us, that no longer serve our highest good.
Many believe that in order for great things to happen, we must be at the right place at the right time. Bob Proctor was spot on when he said that although there may be some truth to it, the real issue is that we have to be “aware” that we are at the right place at the right time.
So, believe that you are limitless, believe that you have the power to change who you want to become, and believe that all things are possible. Take time to relax completely at least twice a day for 10-15 minutes and use both visualization and imagination. Understand and apply the laws of nature (Working with the Law by Raymond Holliwell), and the universe will always you award you with something better than anything you can possibly imagine.
Evolution is necessary. It relies on the belief that you can. Believe that you can. Believe you are deserving. Examine the current image you hold of yourself and ask if this is still who you want to be. Create an image of the “new you.” Act, speak and behave as the new image. Give gratitude to the things you wished for and have the attitude that they have already arrived or are on their way. This automatically alters your emotion and energy and as the new vibrational frequency is sent out into the universe, like kind will be attracted to you.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Trust your feelings.
Have an open mind.
Don’t reject an idea.
Don’t accept an idea.
Don’t neglect an idea.
Believe all things are possible.
Believe you are possible.
Thoughts become things.
You become what you think about most.
Expect the unexpected. It will be what you asked for.
Be aware of every present moment.
Take the leap.
The worst that can happen is that you actually succeed.
Believe. Evolve.
Until next time, sending you all courage to believe in yourself and take that necessary leap of faith.
