Connection
A few days ago, while sitting in meditation, I uttered a series of whispered intentions,
“Remember who you are. You are spirit. You are energy and light. You are creative. You have powers.” This is true for everyone.
This was not the only time I contemplated the significance of my presence in this Earth school, as Gary Zukav refers to our life here, and how I am related to everything in the whole scheme of things. Normally, I don’t really have time to pause and ponder such things as I carry out my busy daily service to others; but lately, my head began feeling heavy and cluttered. Yet, nothing specific was coming up for me. So, I let it go until several days ago when I got curious and wanted to dive deeper into my thoughts.
I don’t know. Maybe, I needed a reason for why I was doing what I was doing everyday. It all feels so minimal, so limiting. I know I provide a service to people, yet I wish I could serve more people everyday. I figured if I was having a positive impact on individuals in a day’s work, imagine if I could multiply that by 100 times or 1000 times! I guess that would feel like a much more worthy goal and time better spent of my 24 hours. But, that would mean that I would need more of me. Well, I guess that’s why I got up enough courage to launch my YouTube inspirational Meridian meditation tutorials.
There remains a lingering sense of incomplete satisfaction. My life — am I even doing it right? Does that exist, a right and wrong way of living? My studies in personal development reinforce the fact that there is no wrong or right way to do anything or any outcome. A thing just is. All things just are. Our job is to allow and let, to experience the natural flow of things. Our job is to simply surrender to what is the present moment especially during our times of reflection and contemplation.
A common question I’ve been asked repeatedly is how do we know what is the natural flow of things or the direction we are supposed to take everyday of our lives? What if we make the wrong decisions? What then? Can those errors be corrected or reversed? What I’ve realized is that the “right” path will usually feel right, comfortable, not going against anything and the move is done with ease. Wrong decisions are wrapped in fear, anxiety and stress. They tend to be very negative and produce a heaviness within the mind and body. It feels like a fight and the process is not smooth.
We also have a propensity to wallow in the negative, in what we define as our errors and failures. However, truth be told, many will tell us that what they initially believed was a bad thing turned out to be the best thing that ever happened. And then, recently, I listened to a podcast that reminded me what Thomas Edison said about failures. He never considered all the times that his experiments didn’t work as failures but the number of steps it took for him to get it right, which, of course, as we all know, was the invention of the incandescent light bulb.
I have read that there is no such thing as an extra human being and that we are all unique, important and necessary. This also implies that we are powerful and we do have more control over our lives than we were led to believe. However, we were taught at a very early age, some say as early as before birth through ages 6 or 7, to look at the external, our environment for the answers. Our parents typically directed our attention to the outside, encouraging us to be like others, be liked by others, and to conform, instead of asking us what we wanted, what we were thinking about, what were our minds telling us to express our uniqueness.
Our inherent ability to change our perception is one of our most powerful tools to navigate events and situations that are out of our physical control. Things are always happening around us but how we choose to participate is crucial. Animals react through the fight or flight response. Humans have the ability to think and so when we use our mental faculties, we can make a plan and respond to the situation instead of randomly react. Wayne Dyer has been quoted many times saying that we we change our way of seeing things, the things we look at change.
We are connected with ourselves as much as we are with everything and everyone around us, with forces in the known, as well as those we will come to know; but the way we handle our connection with self affects our connection with everything else. I realize this explanation generates a sense of separation (there is now much literature pointing to the oneness that we are), but for the purpose of this discussion, I am using it to illustrate a few important points.
If we commit to memory that our inherent power is an inside job, our ability to create magic in our lives through our marvelous gift of imagination to change our life’s situation no matter what, whether that pertains to our health, wealth or sense of happiness, then this awakening to our elevated awareness permits us to be of greater service to others. The more we love ourselves, the more we can extend love to others. We would not be giving in to fear and we would not be spreading fear to others.
From my conversations with patients and clients, much of their mental and/or physical discomfort is based on their allowing their 5 senses to use the present circumstances to dictate how they should feel and what they should believe in the present moment and in the future. They confuse sitting with it, allowing it or receiving it to be synonymous with accepting it. Remember architect Buckminster Fuller stated that change cannot be effected by altering the present reality but that we must build a new model.
We would not be obligated to exist in a constant state of worry and believe we are helpless victims of circumstances. Know that it is our birthright to level up our lives, whatever we choose to improve, whether that be our health, our finances or our emotional wellbeing. If we understand that the body is a faithful servant of the mind, then we also understand that whatever the mind thinks, the body believes. Neuroscience and quantum physics indicate that everything operates on vibrational energetic frequency.
Every thought carries a vibrational signature that then travels down into the body—thus the caution that we must be careful with what we think about and what we say to others and to ourselves. We must remember that our ability to change our mindset is our innate power to release the control of present circumstances over us and instead be, as they say, “the change we wish to see in the world.” Our connection is one of love, peace and joy. That is the true purpose of our connection, our oneness.
I will conclude with wisdom from personal development pioneer Earl Nightingale:
Your world is a living expression of how you are using and have used your mind.
Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.
Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become reality.
Our attitude toward life determines life’s attitude towards us.
Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don’t wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it’s at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.
Every one of us is the sum total of his own thoughts.
We tend to live up to our expectations.
No man can get rich himself unless he enriches others.
You are now, and you do become, what you think about.
The strangest secret in the world is that you become what you think about most.
Meditation and Relaxation
1) Take a few moments and read over your gratitudes. If you haven’t written them yet, do that now, at least 8 to 10 of them. Remember to take a moment and feel each one so that they have an emotional meaning for you. The emotion serves as an important anchor to power up the gratitude.
2) Find a quiet place and sit comfortably. Close your eyes gently and breathe in through your nose or through pursed lips while tracking the breath all the way down to the belly (5-7 seconds). Exhale through your mouth, tracking the breath down to the belly (5-7 seconds). Repeat 2 or more times.
3) Meridian points to access today
—Chest point, one or both sides
—Eyebrow point, one or both sides
—Corner of the eye, one or both sides
—Under the eye, at cheek bone, one or both sides
—Blade of hand, one hand or alternating between 2 hands
—Chest point, one or both sides
—Under the nose above the upper lip
—Under the lower lip at the dip
—Chest point, one or both sides
4) Intentional statement-questions
—How has my life been so extraordinary that I didn’t notice before?
—How has my life been so incredible that I didn’t notice before?
—How has my life been so miraculous that I didn’t notice before?
—How has my life been so awesome that I didn’t notice before?
—How has my life been so marvelous that I didn’t notice before?
—How have I been blessed with so much to be grateful for that I didn’t notice before?
—How have I been the master designer of my own life that I didn’t notice before?
—How have I been blessed with abundance of love that I didn’t notice before?
—How have I been blessed with abundance of happiness that I didn’t notice before?
—How have I been blessed with abundance of peace that I didn’t notice before?

5) Conclude with the breathing exercises from 2). If it calls to you, I invite you to continue sitting in meditation and reflection for as long as you like.
6) Remember to stretch and exercise 10 to 15 minutes daily, keep adequately hydrated, and learn or do something new everyday. Remember to write your 8 to 10 gratitudes once or twice a day and take a few moments to anchor emotion to each one.

Remember that change is always possible. You just have to set your mind to it, add emotion and firm belief in yourself, repeat your intentions at least 3 times a day, and be patient with the confidence that because you made a change, your wish will become a reality. As Earl Nightingale said, time passes anyway. You might as well make the most of it.
Until next time, I wish you all much to be grateful for everyday🪷
With Love and Gratitude🙌♥️
