Revisit From My Guardian Angels
The ability to access our higher intuitive collective or universal consciousness has been researched and talked about for decades. No one really knows what this place is. Many believe that this is the space from where we came, to which we will go eventually, perhaps the energy that is all around us, a field that we cannot see and what the majority of individuals cannot feel or believe in its existence (unless you have some higher level of conscious awareness through your experience in meditation). Is it part of our life energy? Is it part of our thought process? Some refer to this phenomenon as our “gut feeling or instinct.” Is this a place we can contact if we need advice or does it just connect with us randomly, seemingly without purpose or direction?
In the last 8 weeks, there have been more changes, uncertainty and chaos than in all the years I’ve been alive, seriously. But, it has also been for me, the most enlightening, revealing and rewarding at the same time. Through learning about and using tools like accepting every event as neutral and not targeting me, through loving even my worst enemy, I came out of darkness and realized that through consistent sitting with myself in silence, through the passage of time, the old stories and patterns connected with the past were effortlessly losing their last desperate attempt to hang on to my essence. And, I was able to be present to receive the universe’s graces.
Many of us, including yours truly, get caught up in so much “doing” instead of “being." We continue to believe that we control our lives but we really do not. The frustration and anger come when we continue to swim against the current, not realizing that the answers, solutions to whatever we seek is downstream—if we only just let go and allow the current to take us there. But, we are always too afraid, too scared of what we cannot see and believing that only the worst outcome will reveal itself. That is simply not true. Although we are hardwired for negativity and to expect negativity in everyone and everything, that program can be changed over time via various methods that include different forms of meditation, behavioral therapy, hypnosis, sheer persistence, repetition and reformatting our ingrained belief system.
Last week, some of the readers asked if there comes a time when they don’t have to do the inner work anymore. My answer is no—the inner work has to be done everyday indefinitely because our existence is always in flux, ever-changing. The world around us is ever-evolving and if we believe in the phenomenon that the external environment, whatever is happening in the world around us, mirrors the fear, shame, and guilt of not-enoughness we possess inside of us as part of the unconscious egoic personality, then if we change and become more conscious, more present, more accepting of the “is-ness” of things, then the external world reciprocates. This is when all the old stories and identities just fall by the wayside effortlessly. The inner work transforms into no work at all when “being” results in automatic “doing.”
Another common question asked of me is what happens if we are on the journey to self-discovery and personal growth and our ability to be more present is taking us to higher levels of conscious awareness but that those around us are not? Then, what? My answer to that is our responsibility is to focus on our journey and growth. All individuals have their own time line. Forcing your beliefs on those who are not ready will not bode well. We can choose to accept them as they are, as part of the “is-ness” of things in the present moment and the peace is maintained. Or, we leave the situation, or eventually, they leave. This is all energetically designed and karmatically driven.
How many of us have been in situations in which we “rack” our brains in an attempt to find an answer and none is forthcoming except the stress and anxiety that have built up causing the cortisol levels to rise, wreaking havoc on our bodies causing disease to develop? One day after I had been struggling for several days to find a solution to a problem that had been weighing heavy on my mind, I decided to surrender to “higher intelligence” or to the universe, if you will. After meditating for a significant period of time, I felt the answer come through as a thought that seemed to float into my very being, yet somehow I knew it did not come from me.
The answer made no sense, but I went with it and it worked out beautifully. Finally, it dawned on me that sometimes the right answer comes from a source that defies logic. The answer almost doesn’t make any logical sense and yet, it is the one that works. There is a quote from Michael Beckwith that has remained one of my favorites. If it calls to you, spend a few minutes reflecting upon the following and what it means to you:
“You can start with nothing. And out of nothing, and out of no way, a way will be made.”
When we take time to sit with ourselves in meditation, we our energetically transformed and opportunities find us, individuals who can help us find us. Remember that a solution to a problem cannot be found at the same level in which it originated. This explains why so many of our solutions have a tendency to not work out.
I don’t propose that it is easy to accept life and its challenges the way I’ve described it above. It is anything but easy. I have to work at it every minute of every day. Like everyone else, I feel that there are things that people should do but they’re not, and things that they are not doing but they should. And then, there’s that word, “should” implying that my idea of a perfect and fair world is the right one. I’m no longer that naïve.
In Issue 21 back in July, I wrote about finding a hawk feather. In doing more research, it is likely that what I found was an owl feather. I remember it was the oddest thing. I never find anything, much less a feather. After the car was parked, I made my way to open the door at work and something on the ground caught the corner of my left eye. In front of the dumpster double doors was the most beautiful feather I had ever found. It was graced with browns, golds, whites and stripes. I was aware that certain cultures had strong beliefs and experiences with insightful meanings of feathers and birds and so I did a bit of research.
In brief, it is said that finding an owl feather on your walking path means that not only is a healing taking place, but a new direction or path is needed and that your home and all of its occupants are protected. On a more spiritual note, finding an owl feather can mean that you were visited by a female loved one that has passed.
Just as I was thinking that it had been a while since a feather had crossed my path, earlier this week, one did find me after all. The circumstances were kind of strange I remembered. I had gone out for my usual evening walk listening to a personal growth podcast and on my way back I remembered thinking,
“This walk seems so short. Maybe I should double back a distance and go over to one of the spots that overlooks the trees and spend a few more minutes connecting with nature.”
I normally don’t double back and I don’t pause for very long to look at anything. I am looking around as I walk and so the walks tend to be deliberate and purposeful. Suddenly, I was surrounded by bird song, and all these birds were playing catch it seems among the trees. So, after about 10 more minutes, I turned back and began making my way home. As I stepped off the grassy area and off the curb, something brightly reflecting the light off of the setting sun caught my half-closed eyes.
It was a beautiful grey feather. As soon as I went inside, I did a bit of digging and discovered that a grey feather was a sign of peace and tranquility and that finding this on your path meant a period of calmness and clarity would enter your life; it represents a symbol of hope and harmony. Whenever a grey feather finds you, it signifies that perhaps you’ve been going through some challenging times during a transitional period and the feather showing up is a sign of encouragement to keep going on your path. It is also a meaning connecting to guardian angels messaging you that your continued personal growth will expand your consciousness so that you arrive at a balance.
For the next 2 days, I found 2 more grey feathers, or rather, they found me. I gave thanks to my guardian angels. And, I gave thanks to my mom for always watching over and protecting me.
Relaxation and Meditation Tips
1) Find a comfortable place to sit quietly. Close your eyes and take a slow, deliberate breath either through your nose or through purse lips and follow the breath all the way down to your belly for a 7 second count. Hold for 3 seconds. Let the breath out through pursed lips for a 7 second count. Hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 2 more times
2) Access and tap gently the Meridian points we have reviewed so far (refer to previous issues), using the tips of 2 to 3 fingers with a gentle light tapping motion, 7-10 seconds for each point
—both chest areas between the breast bone and collarbone
—blade areas of both hands same side as little finger
—under the lower lip above the chin at the dip
—above the upper lip under the nose
—both cheek bones beneath the eye sockets
3) Access a new Meridian point —outer corners of both eyes part of the bony sockets, avoiding the soft temple areas
4) Intentional words to use while tapping on the Meridian points to heal the mind, body and spirit (see previous issues for more examples)
—Why is there so much abundance in my life that I didn’t notice before?
—Why am I surrounded by so much love that I didn’t notice before?
—Why am I so healthy now that I didn’t notice before?
—Why do I find so many things I’m grateful for that I didn’t notice before?
—Why do I feel so much peace in my heart that I didn’t notice before?
—Why is there so much joy in my life that I didn’t notice before?
—Why is there so much kindness around me that I didn’t notice before?
—Why does my mind seem so clear that I didn’t notice before?
5) When you’ve completed accessing the Meridian points, place the hands on your lap or to the sides and just continue to sit quietly with your eyes closed for 10 more minutes
6) Then, repeat the breathing exercises in 1) and open your eyes slowly and come out of the sitting. If it is bedtime for you, my offer is that you just lie down and go to bed. This ritual will bring a lightness to your day and relaxation at night
7) Remember to journal daily 3-5 things you are grateful for about you, those around you or your current situation
